At Queens View Harbour, we provide palliative care at our care home in Troon which has been designed to provide compassionate care to residents who are in their final days, weeks or months. We also support residents’ loved ones during this time in what is undeniably an emotional and difficult period.

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is also known as end-of-life care and is appropriate for someone who is living with a terminal illness or health condition who is in the final days, weeks, or months of their life. A person may be coming to the end of their life due to natural deterioration or because they have a terminal illness or health condition.

Comfort is the ultimate goal for those receiving palliative care, and the main aim in any care facility is to lessen an individual’s pain as well as any symptoms, ensure their dignity is maintained, and that their wishes are met.

Loved ones are also supported by staff, enabling residents to spend time with those close to them, whilst giving families the support they need to help get them through this difficult period.
