What Is Nursing Care & Who Is It Suitable For?

There are multiple care homes and nursing homes based all around the UK, all in which offer their own unique versions of nursing care, alongside other care types. With many to choose from, it can be tricky to know which care home would be the best one for yourself or your loved one. The process can cause anxiety and uncertainty resulting in people feeling stressed and unsupported because they don’t want to make the wrong decision for their loved one.

In order to help you understand more about nursing care and what to expect from a home that provides nursing care; we have broken it down for you in this blog post below…

What is Nursing Care?

Nursing care is a type of medical care provided by a qualified nurse, either in hospitals or within a care home setting. They supply compassionate care and support, including helping them with their personal care and daily tasks such as dressing, washing, housekeeping and medical management, 24 hours a day.

Some examples of those who will benefit from nursing care include those who require rehabilitative care, post illness, injuries or those that suffer from a mental or physical disability. It’s also suitable for those who live with long-term health conditions or illnesses. These individuals will need specialised support from qualified nurses and care assistants to allow them to live a happy and meaningful life.

Who is Nursing Care Suitable for?

There are a lot of health conditions that require nursing support and some include the after effects of a stroke, any neurological disorders, long-term health conditions, disabilities and those that require some form of rehabilitative care.

Palliative Care

Palliative care is also known as end-of-life care and refers to the care provided for individuals who are living with a terminal illness or whereby their condition has declined. This form of care provided by a registered nurse, not only cares for the resident and their personal care, but also ensuring they’re comfortable, being relieved from their symptoms as much as possible and therefore, helping to improve their quality of life, especially in their final days, bringing peace of mind to everyone involved.
