Autumn at Queens Valley Care Home

Welcoming Autumn at Queens View Harbour Care Home

As the colder days arrive here at Queens View Harbour in Troon, we’ve been embracing the change in seasons by making our home feel cosy and inviting. Residents have been busy adding autumnal touches, creating beautiful wreaths and pumpkin displays that brighten up our spaces. It’s been wonderful to see new residents and their families getting involved in these activities, helping to make the home feel even more like their own.

We know that settling into a care home is a big change, both for residents and their families. That’s why we encourage everyone to take part in our seasonal events, which are not only fun but also help new faces settle in quickly. It’s all about creating a warm, welcoming environment where everyone feels at home.

Autumn Activities

For many residents, especially those living with dementia, having seasonal decorations around the home helps mark the time of year and provides a comforting sense of familiarity. Recently, Jean, one of our newer residents, has found that getting involved in these activities, alongside her family, has made her transition into the home much smoother.

Our autumn coffee morning was another highlight, bringing everyone together over warm pumpkin spiced lattes. It was a lovely chance for both old and new residents to catch up, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company. We also love seeing families get involved in these moments, as it strengthens the bond between residents, staff, and loved ones.

A Home Our Residents Are Proud Of

At Queens View Harbour, we take pride in creating a home where our residents feel comfortable and valued. Their involvement in decorating for the season gives them a sense of ownership and pride in their surroundings. Visitors often comment on how beautiful the home looks, and those compliments bring so much joy to our residents.

As we move further into autumn and prepare for winter, we’ll continue to focus on fostering a supportive, community-driven atmosphere where everyone can feel at home—both residents and their families.
