At Queens View Harbour, we understand the importance of maintaining connections to one's previous occupations, homes and lifestyles. We believe that by keeping individuals connected, we can ensure they continue to experience positive outcomes with their families and friends. This commitment was exemplified this month as we supported Tom, a beloved resident, in continuing his weekly visits to his farm.

Staying Connected

Tom's connection to his farm runs deep and we are honoured to facilitate his visits, which offer him not only a chance to reminisce but also to actively participate in the upkeep of his cherished land. Accompanied by Bill, Tom ventures out in the van to his farm, where the breathtaking views serve as a reminder of the beauty that has kept his family rooted there for generations. During his visits, Tom often encounters friends and acquaintances, adding an extra layer of joy to his outings.

Despite being physically unable to manage the farm as he once did, Tom remains involved in decision-making, drawing on his wealth of expertise to guide his four daughters, who now oversee its operations. His dedication to his farm is unwavering and he takes great pride in ensuring that everything is running smoothly during his weekly check-ins.

Building a Community

Hobsland Farm, nestled near Monkton Ayr, holds a special place in the hearts of the local community. As a dairy farmer, Tom and his sister were not only born on the farm but also dedicated themselves to its success over the years. Tom's generosity extended beyond his family, as he leased out his many houses to families in need, leaving a lasting impact on the community.

The farm's front lawn, meticulously maintained by Tom, became a symbol of pride within the farming community, hosting regular croquet games that brought neighbours together. Tom's attention to detail ensured that his lawn was always the envy of the area, a testament to his dedication and love for his home.

Enjoying the Fine Weather

As summer approaches, we eagerly anticipate finding new ways to enjoy the sunshine together with our friends and families. Whether it's browsing the local shops or indulging in a cone from the nearby ice cream parlours, we are grateful to be part of the warm and welcoming community of Troon. Our doors are always open to new ideas for events or outings, as we strive to create meaningful experiences for our residents.

We are also delighted to welcome Lynne Conway as our new Care Home Manager and Gemma Boyle as our new Clinical Lead Deputy. Both bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to Queens View Harbour, and we are confident they will be valuable assets to our team as we continue to provide exceptional care and support to our residents.
