November Activities

As we approach the end of the year, we understand that the dark nights and cold weather can make it difficult for people to stay motivated and stimulated. We also recongise that it’s a time of year when there are many important events and special festivities.

At Queens View Harbour, our activities and wellbeing coordinators have worked hard to create a programme that will keep our residents active, engaged and sociable this November, and for the rest of the winter season.

Throughout the months, we offer a variety of in-house activities such as manicures, church services, film afternoons and jigsaws and games. We encourage light activity with yoga, chair exercises and skittles, and we make sure those who have birthdays are celebrated with everyone in the home as well as cake.

We also hold many activities that are beneficial to all of our residents but in particular those living with dementia, such as reminiscence and musical sessions both held by us and visiting entertainers.

This month, we have some special activities surrounding Remembrance Day, Guy Fawkes and St Andrew's Day. Residents will be starting the month with arts and crafts sessions that feature poppies and they will also be attending a war years reminiscence session ahead of Remembrance Day.

For Guy Fawkes night, we are holding a special evening on Friday 4th November, where residents will gather to enjoy some food, drink, sparklers and a bonfire.

On the 30th of November, we as a home will be celebrating St Andrew's Day. To commemorate our national day and the patron saint of Scotland, there will be plenty of festivities at the home and we are also welcoming back 'True Colours' for a special St Andrew's Day performance.

It is important to us that we provide residents with a plethora of activities and opportunities for them to continue much-loved hobbies, pursue new interests and socialise with new people as well as friends and family. When programmes are created, we are mindful of everyone's personal preferences and hobbies, ensuring that they are featured in a programme that is inclusive to all.
