Extra Special Occasions

residents-100th-birthday

It is always incredible to see a loved one live to see his or her 100th birthday, and it's certainly deserving of a very special celebration. Even though the number of people reaching their 100th birthday has been climbing, it is still rare to reach the century mark.

We at Queens View Harbour Nursing Home in Ayr had the great honour and pleasure of hosting an extraordinary and memorable celebration for a very special lady, much loved by all at the home. Staff and fellow residents spent the weeks prior planning, organising, buying special milestone cards and gifts and generally getting very excited about Frances’ big day!

Frances enjoyed a family luncheon in our private dining room and there was musical entertainment from Sharon Day in the afternoon, with approximately 60 people attending. The celebrations at Queens View Harbour went very well and Frances had a visit from the Lord Lieutenant’s Deputy who presented her with a bouquet of flowers from the home and also her message from Buckingham Palace.

Frances proudly displayed the birthday card she received from the King and Queen and later received a rousing Happy Birthday from all the staff and residents who were enjoying the afternoon's celebrations with her.

There were two beautiful cakes for Frances, and many flowers, gifts, and cards for her to open and read. She said she’d thoroughly enjoyed having her family and friends with her and also her Zoom call to Australia to speak to her son and grandchildren.

We were delighted to be able to host such as wonderful birthday celebration for Frances. We look forward to celebrating more 100th birthdays at Queens View Harbour!
